LIFE IN MELBOURNE SO FAR

 Roll'd - Banh Xeo

I am obviously the worst blogger ever as I'm finding it so difficult to stay consistent with posts recently. I wanted to make a quick update post sharing a couple of interesting (and mostly bad quality) snaps that I've taken over the past 3 and a half weeks. I've managed to find a job which keeps me relatively busy but in my time off I love hanging around in the city and wandering around the small laneways lined with eclectic cafes and boutiques. A lot of people say Melbourne is Australia's most 'European' city and I have to agree. During lunchtime hours there's a throng of people sitting outside drinking coffee and chatting with friends - I love it! I went to an amazing vietnamese place called 'Roll'd' where I tried Banh Xeo which is a pancake made out of rice batter and filled with delicious meats and veggies. Mine was filled with lemongrass beef and was unbelievably good - of course I had to have sweet potato fries aswell!

This week I went to an animal sanctuary where I got to see koalas, kangaroos, dingoes, tasmanian devils.. the list goes on! It felt really aussie but unfortunately I stupidly forgot my DSLR camera so couldn't get many good shots of the animals - hopefully you can still appreciate the cuteness!

I MOVED TO AUSTRALIA!

SO I MOVED TO MELBOURNE! If you've read my other blog posts you'll know that I was moving and I can't believe the time has actually came. This is my third day here in Melbourne but my second day awake. Jet lag is real. I'm staying with family while I get my bearings but will hopefully move closer to the city or beach in a few weeks/months. Yesterday, I went for a drive up the coast to Port Philip Bay which is absolutely stunning as you can see! I loved eyeing up the unbelievable houses on the way, some of them looked like Kim K style mansions! If I had the money I would move to this area in a heartbeat, although it is about a hour and a half drive from the city itself.

At the moment I'm just settling in and job hunting primarily but so far I'm loving it! Not homesick yet, sorry England.

TRAVELLING AROUND DENMARK - ARRHUS

I recently spent a long weekend with my family in Arrhus - Denmark. This was my first visit to Denmark and I am now desperate to go to Copenhagen and its larger cities. It was honestly one of the trendiest and friendliest places I've ever been to. I've always admired the simplicity and class of Scandinavian design and fashion. I especially loved sneaking a peak into all the impeccably decorated living rooms of all the Danish apartments we walked past - as creepy as that sounds. I really regret not taking pictures of some of the street style that I saw but I'll make sure that the next time I travel I'll snap some pictures of interesting outfits.

Three amazing 'scandi' fashion bloggers:
I 100% recommend you visit Arrhus, its such a beautiful city that's so full of culture!

OCTOBER 2014 PLAYLIST

I've recently become inspired to start sharing what music I've been loving throughout the month on my blog. As an avid Spotify user, I'm constantly trawling music blogs looking for new and interesting music to listen to. I do love abit of Top 40 but when I'm after something abit more alternative and unique I usually either read Zoe's blog for inspiration. She has the best taste in music and I always trust her monthy playlists. I don't know if it's because I recently visited Denmark but this month I've been obsessed with Scandinavian artists and the folk vibes that bands like First Aid Kit seem to incorporate.

1. Ane Brun - Halo

This is obviously a cover of Beyonce's Halo - it's so relaxing and always calms me down. I think her voice is so soothing and I love her version of this B classic.

2. Wild Belle - Keep You

I only just came across this band and I'm in love! It's made up of a brother/sister combo and they have the coolest style! I'm a little bit in love with the girl singer..

3. Banks - This what it feels like

A little bit more of an R&B vibe than the last two but such a good chill out song.

4. First Aid Kit - My Silver Lining

I'm pretty sure I've played this song to death.

5. Wankelmut & Emma Louise - My head is a jungle (MK remix)

My ultimate 'getting ready for a  night out' song.

MAKING THE MOST OF AUTUMN

COAT: H&M, JEANS: H&M, SHIRT:H&M, HAT: DOROTHY PERKINS, BOOTS: RIVER ISLAND, BAG: MK, LIPS: MAC DARK SIDE

I'm currently in the midst of my gap year, I have deferred my place at Glasgow University and am taking a year out. I'm actually moving to Melbourne, Australia at the end of october which means I will miss out on winter in England. In some ways, this makes me depressed as christmas and autumn/winter is one of my favorite times of year in this country.. but then I remember how much I love baking in the sun and my sadness disappears.

I'm trying to make the most of autumn fashion and colours while I'm here hence this outfit (I was also having a really bad hair day so I stuck a hat on and called it fashion). H&M are killing it recently and they've just had a 20% off for students deal going on so I had to take advantage. I picked up this trench coat which I will probably still be able to wear when I'm in Australia. These jeans are similar to the AA Easy Jeans and the Topshop Joni's.  I have to say I think they are better than both, they fit me so much better than the Topshop version which I find go baggy way too quickly. I also finally found a triangle soft bra which I've been lusting after for so long, this was only 7.99 which is an absolute bargain. Very impressed.
